You may have heard a lot about PCI compliance and Miva Merchant 4 Store End Of Life. If you’re running a Miva merchant version 4.x store, you will at some point need to upgrade that store to a Miva Merchant 5.5 store to satisfy the PCI-DSS compliance requirements.

Miva Merchant recently completed its PA-DSS Audit and has received its Attestation of Validation (AOV) for Miva Merchant 5.5 Production Release 7. However, Miva Merchant 4.x is not and will not be PA-DSS Validated.

This has been addressed by Miva Merchant as they have developed an OpenUI Exporter tool to aid in the process of transitioning a 4 store to a 5.5 store. It should be noted, although this tool has been designed to implement the transfer process, it DOES NOT carry over the OpenUI tokens and, therefore, will require some work on the 5.5 store once the transition is complete.

Unfortunately these modules which were developed for version 4 stores, DO NOT run with 5.5 stores. The next step would be to assess what modules that you have installed and for what purpose. You will want to verify which of these functionalities may already be included in a 5.5 store and which are not. You may have to purchase additional modules for your new 5.5 store if those particular functions are not built-in to the Miva 5.5 store.

EOL for Miva Merchant version 4.x stores will come on December 31, 2011. On January 1, 2012 all support and updates will cease for those who have not transitioned over to Miva Merchant 5.5.

In order to satisfy one of the many requirements for PCI-DSS compliance, all 5.5 stores that have upgraded to the PR7 release, must now use a secure (HTTPS protocol) login session for any admin functions. A non-secure (HTTP) login for admin functions is no longer allowed. The use of a private domain SSL certificate over the “shared” certificate satisfies this secure login requirement and also adds validity to your store’s on-line presence while customers are shopping and viewing secure areas in your store..
